The central focus of Zsolt TIBOR’s exhibition lies on his latest large-scale, panel-like paper and canvas drawings. The thematic of his recent works is still characterized by his multilayered, associative visual construction. He places time as present’s concrete into central focus and as an attempt of reference, examines present time in context of past and fictitious future. The small fragments refer to the artist’s former works of analysing systems, supplemented by further questions and statements. What does vision, playfulness, power, hierarchy mean nowadays? Analysing the entirety of the paintings, there is an explicit alteration: whilst his earlier works had been unfolded in details by the viewer and the artist did not centralize his compositions, his large-scale drawings of this exhibition reveal centred and intense-coloured compositions. Zsolt TIBOR creates a new aesthetic language. His large-scale drawings and installations point beyond the traditional interpretation of drawings: this medium is placed in an active contemporary art discourse, posing relevant questions of the current position of drawing and art. His lyrical drawings are surveys of an existing world’s fictitious metaphysical architecture.
